A Love Supreme | Classic

Classic Albums John Coltrane

Continuing in the spirit of classic Jazz releases, this month's feature is one of the crown jewels of the Coltrane discography.

1965's 'A Love Supreme' is the legendary saxophonist's gift to god and music, and serves as both a perfect introduction into the genre, as well as one of it's most layered classics. Across the album's four suites, Coltrane explores a complex yet approachable blend of post-bop sounds, which build on those he laid the foundation for on his work with Miles Davis on the classic 'Kind of Blue'. The quartet accompanying Coltrane all shine, with each musician given time to improvise on several occasions, just see the extended bass solo from Jimmy Garrison on 'Pursuance'.

Regardless of your experience in Jazz, 'A Love Supreme' is a cornerstone of Jazz and is essential for all collectors.

Available in The Store now alongside other seminal Coltrane releases such as 'Giant Steps' and 'Blue Train'
