Heavy is the debut album from Californian heavy psych/acid rockers Iron Butterfly. Released in 1968 the album is hailed by many critics as the beginnings of the heavy-metal sound, which this band would immortalise with their follow up album of the same year, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. The Iron Butterfly sound is characterised by the heavy organ style of Doug Ingle together with the scorching guitar work of Erik Braunn. This album is a must for fans of '60s heavy psych-rock or proto-metal.
