Actress aka Darren J. Cunningham is a British electronic musician born 1979 in Wolverhampton, England. Cunningham also works under various other names including Levantis and Bank of England. He creates Intelligent Dance Music (IDM), Techno and Tech House styles. In 2004, Following his early experiences in music and immersion into the London club scene, Actress founded the label Werkdiscs. The label started as a club night and has gone on to discover and release music by artists such as Helena Huff, disrupt, Zomby, and Cunningham’s own releases. During this early period of his career, he remixed various productions, wrote for the seminal techno imprint Soma Records and released singles and EPs through Prime Numbers and Nonplus. To-date he has released seven studio albums, standouts include Hazyville, Splazsh, R.I.P and AZD. His 2018 work LAGEOS was a collaboration with London Contemporary Orchestra. Growing up, Cunningham was a talented footballer, signing and playing for West Bromwich Albion until suffering an injury which derailed his career as a promising young talent.
