Bikini Kill is an American punk rock band formed 1990 in Olympia, Washington, by singer and songwriter Kathleen Hanna, guitarist Billy Karren, bassist Kathi Wilcox, and drummer Tobi Vail. They are considered to be the pioneer of the Riot Grrrl movement, and known for their radical feminist lyrics and fiery performances. The band broke up in '97 but have reformed periodically for one-off shows, the latest being in Jan 2019. Kathleen Hanna has collaborated with Joan Jett on several projects and Karren, Wicox and Vail formed a new band The Frumpies. Outstanding albums include Bikini Kill (EP), The Anti-Pleasure Dissertation (EP), Pussy Whipped and Reject All American.
