Stephen William Bragg aka Billy is an English singer-songwriter born 1957 in Barking, London. He is a left-wing political activist who blends elements of folk music, punk rock and protest songs. He started in pub-rock duo Riff Raff with his mate Wiggy, before going solo. Billy has collaborated frequently with the band Wilco, and recently with Joe Henry on American folk music projects. Outstanding albums include Life's a Riot With Spy vs Spy, Talking With the Taxman About Poetry, Worker's Playtime, Mermaid Avenue and The Peel Session.
