Steven John Hamper aka Billy Childish aka Wild Billy Childish aka Corporal Kunt is an English painter, author, poet, photographer, film maker, singer and guitarist born 1959 in Chatham, Kent. As a musician, Childish has formed many bands as vehicles for his garage punk rock'n'roll shenanigans which parody British nostalgia with Dada influences - in some ways similar to Vivian Stanshall from The Bonzo's, but more punk. His bands include The Pop Rivets, Thee Milkshakes, Thee Headcoats, The Buff Medways, The Blackhands and The Singing Loins. He has also collaborated with other musicians including Sexton Ming, Holly Golightly and her band Thee Headcoatees. Under his various guises Childish has recorded around 40 albums, some of which are excellent. Outstanding albums include 50 Albums Great, At The Bridge, Punk Rock at the British Legion Hall and Acorn Man.
