Broken Social Scene is a Canadian indie rock band formed 1999 in Toronto, Ontario by Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning. The band functions as a musical collective, with Drew and Canning drawing on between four and seventeen additional members for different band projects. The band's style is baroque pop which incorporates orchestral accompaniment and experimental song structures. Their second album You Forgot it in People is regarded as their masterpiece and won the Alternative Album of the Year Juno Award in 2003. Other outstanding albums include Broken Social Scene and Hug of Thunder.
