Benjamin Reichwald aka Bladee is a Swedish rapper, singer, and songwriter born 1994 in Stockholm. Bladee first gained attention in the early 2010s as part of the burgeoning Swedish cloud rap scene alongside artists like Yung Lean and producers Yung Sherman and Whitearmor. He has carved out a niche for himself as soloist, founding member of the Drain Gang collective, and collaborator with Yung Lean and the Sad Boys. At the age of 13 Reichwald met classmate Zak Arogundade, also known as Ecco2K and they formed a punk band named Krossad (crushed). After leaving school, Reichwald continued making music whilst working at a daycare centre, releasing a few tracks in 2011 under the name Ken Burns. He eventually became friends with Swedish rapper Yung Lean, leading to a working relationship between his own Gravity Boys collective and Lean's Sad Boys Entertainment. Reichwald and Lean then made "Heal You // Bladerunner" from Lean's Unknown Death 2002 mixtape, which drew attention from Lean's fanbase. He released his debut mixtape, Gluee in 2014 which was described as the "summertime anthem for a suburban generation stuck scrolling through Twitter." The mixtape was successful on SoundCloud, racking up over 2 million plays. As Bladee, Reichwald has gone on to release 10 studio albums to-date, including collaborations with Ecco2K, Thaiboy Digital, and Yung Lean. Standout releases include Eversince (2016), 333 (2020), The Fool (2021), Crest (2022), and the 2020 live album Remote Utopias: 2nd May 2020. Bladee's ethereal, often melancholic sound is characterised by its genre-bending qualities, blending elements of rap, pop, electronic music, and experimental soundscapes to create an otherworldly sonic landscape, with lyrics delivered in his signature autotuned falsetto. One of Bladee's most notable qualities is his willingness to embrace vulnerability and introspection in his music. His lyrics touch on themes of alienation, heartbreak, and self-discovery, offering a raw and unfiltered look into his inner thoughts and emotions. In addition to his solo work, Bladee is a key member of Drain Gang, a collective of artists and producers, with whom he has released collaborative projects such as "D&G" and "Trash Island." Reichwald also serves as the creative director for Yung Lean's clothing line Sadboys Gear.
