Blue Mink | Artist
Blue Mink was a British psych-pop group formed 1969 by American Madeline Bell (vocals) and Britons Roger Coulam (keyboards), Roger Cook (vocals), Alan Parker (guitar), Herbie Flowers (bass) and Barry Morgan (drums). In the early '70s they had six Top 20 hit singles in the UK Chart, including "Melting Pot" and "The Banner Man". Their psych-tinged pop-soul was characterised by Bell's Mowtown soul style coupled with the blue-eyed soul of Roger Cook. The band released six studio albums and one live album before they folded in 1974. All of the members went on to successful solo work after Blue Mink; Bell worked with Elton John and released some fine solo albums and Herbie Flowers was a top session man before joining the band Sky. Outstanding Blue Mink albums include Melting Pot, Our World, A Time of Change and Fruity.
