Auger, who specializes in the Hammond organ, was at the centre of British jazz/rock and early prog rock in the '70s. He was best known for working with Julie Driscoll and The Trinity, as well as leading his own band Oblivion Express. In 1965 he formed Steampacket along with Julie Driscoll, Long John Baldry and a young Rod Stewart. He also worked with Tony Williams, Jimi Hendrix, John McLaughlin, Sonny Boy Williamson, Led Zeppelin and Eric Burdon. The 1970 post-Driscoll Trinity album Befour is excellent, as is Brian Auger's Oblivion Express, Second Wind and Closer to It.
