Face to Face is the Kinks' Fourth album from 1966 and the first of a string of masterpieces which would run continuously through to 1971's Musswell Hillbillies. With Ray, Dave, Mick and Nick Hopkins on keyboards, plus production by Shel Talmy, this album shot the Kinks to pop stardom with hit songs such as "Dandy", "House in the Country" and "Sunny Afternoon". It was this album that transitioned the Kinks from their earlier R&B format, to their characteristic British '60s Pop-Rock sound, with the added dimension of Ray Davies' superb songwriting talents. An essential album from an essential band.
