Barricades and Angels, first released on cassette in 1982, is the first of only two albums recorded by The Stray Trolleys, led by Martin Newell. Before there was The Cleaners From Venus, prolific UK based singer-songwriter Martin Newell was in a band called The Stray Trolleys. In 1980 he and a few young unknowns got together in a home built studio and recorded a handful of songs which found themselves on a DIY cassette. This collection was finally re-released on vinyl in 2017on the Captured Tracks label. This very special collection captures Martin Newell at the outset of his extensive recording career as a solo artist and with many other excellent groups.
