Without Mercy is the Fifth studio album from Durutti Column, released in 1984. The original 1984 release on Factory Records (fact 84) comprised a single LP with only two extended tracks recorded in the studio by Vini Reilly with an ensemble comprising percussion, strings and brass instruments. The reissued released has 2xLPs with additional tracks from the albums Tomorrow, Short Stories For Pauline, and Amigos em Portugal, plus live tracks recorded at the London School of Economics in 1984. The album is a successful realisation of Vini Reilly's vision for a cross-over music between experimental rock and classical ensemble forms. The music contained on this album is sublime and some of the best work recorded by the enigmatic Vincent Gerard Reilly.
