The Allman Brothers Band was an American Southern Rock/Blues band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman and Gregg Allman, along with Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johanson. Duane, a brilliant guitarist who featured with Eric Clapton on the classic Layla album, died in a motorcycle accident in 1971 during the recording of the Allman's third album Eat a Peach. The band's first four releases: The Allman Brother Band, Idlewild South, Eat a Peach and Brothers and Sisters are excellent as is the live album At Fillmore East.
