Field Music | Artist
Field Music is an English rock band formed 2004 in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, by brothers David Brewis and Peter Brewis, with Andrew Moore occasionally featured as keyboardist. Critics have compared the bands' clever art-pop sound to acts as diverse as Steely Dan, XTC, Prefab Sprout, Peter Gabriel, Scritti Politti, Talking Heads and Tod Rundgren. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2005, then their second Tones of Town in 2007. Then followed a two year hiatus during which time David Brewis released a solo album Sea From Shore under the project name School of Language, and Peter Brewis recorded an album under the name The Week That Was. The band reconvened in 2010 to release their third album Field Music (Measure), then their fourth album Plumb in 2012, which was nominated for a Mecury Prize. The band has gone on to release eight studio albums, plus there is a new album entitled Making a New World scheduled for release in 2020. Standout albums include the first three: Field Music, Tones of Town and Field Music (Measure), plus Commontime and Open Here.
