J Geils Band | Artist
The J. Geils Band was an American rock band formed 1968, in Worcester, Massachusetts, by guitarist John "J" Geils. The original lineup included Geils (guitar), Peter Wolf (vocals), Richard "Magic Dick" Salwitz (harmonica, sax), Stephen Bladd (drums), Seth Justman (keyboards) and Danny Klein (bass). The band played R&B-influenced blues-rock during the 1970s and soon achieved commercial success before moving towards a more mainstream radio-friendly sound in the early 1980s. Some of their hit songs included "Must of Got Lost", "Come Back", "Love Stinks", "Freeze Frame" and "Centrefold". After Wolf left the band in 1983 to pursue a solo career, the band released one more album in 1984 with Justman on lead vocals, before breaking up in 1985. Since the breakup of the band in 1985, J. Geils began restoring sports cars in Massachusetts and started the performance shop KTR European Motorsports. In 1992, he joined his old bandmate Magic Dick to form the band Bluestime, which released two albums on Rounder Records. The J Geils Band had several reunions prior to the death of its namesake on April 11, 2017. The band released 11 studio albums, standouts include The J Geils Band, The Morning After, Bloodshot, Monkey Island and "Live" Full House.
