The Kill Devil Hills | Artist

The Kill Devil Hills is an Australian alt-country band formed 2003 in Fremantle, Western Australia, by founding mainstays Brendan Humphries (vocals, guitar) and Steve Joines (guitar, vocals). The band has released four excellent studio albums and one live album. Originally playing a raw "cowpunk" style, the band's sound gelled into a moody gothic-country style all their own, underpinned by fine songwriting and poetic lyrics. In reviewing the band's fourth studio album In on Under near Water, The Guardian hailed it as one of ten "essential releases from the Australian underground. Outstanding albums include Heathen Songs, The Drought, Man, You Should Explode, In on Under near Water and the live album Past and Future Ghosts. The band's most recent album Pink Fit released in 2020 is also recommended.
