Charles William "Chuck" Prophet is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer born 1963 in Whittier, California. Prophet first attracted attention in the American psychedelic desert-rock group Green on Red, alongside Dan Stuart. Green on Red disbanded in 2006 and since then Prophet has focussed on solo work plus several side projects including Raisins in the Sun. He records and tours with his wife Stephanie Finch, who is a singer, keyboardist and guitarist. Prophet is a prolific songwriter and for a time was a staff writer for BMG's Funzalo Music, based in Nashville. He has written and co-written songs for many artists including Alejandro Escovedo, Bruce Springsteen, Solomon Burke, and The Rubinoos. To-date Prophet has released 13 solo studio albums and one live album. Standout releases include Homemade Blood, The Hurting Business, No Other Love, Age of Miracles and Soap and Water, all released in the ten year period 1997-2007. Also highly recommended is his most recent release Bobby Fuller Died For Your Sins, from 2017, plus the 2001 live album Turn the Pigeons Loose: Live in San Francisco 2000. In January 2011, Prophet and Chris Von Sneidern formed the Spanish Bombs as a side project to perform The Clash's London Calling album in its entirety at the Actual Music Festival in Spain, followed by a 12-date tour of the country.
