The Average White Band is a Scottish funk and R&B band formed 1971 in Dundee. The lineup was Alan Gorrie, Onnie McIntyre, Hamish Stuart, Robbie McIntosh, Malcolm Duncan and Roger Ball. McIntosh was from Brian Auger's Obivian and Duncan and Ball were from Jazz-Rock band Mogul Thrash. AWB jumped on the disco/dance craze, but in their case they were excellent musicians who played a well crafted funk/soul style. Outstanding albums include AWB, Cut The Cake and Person to Person.
