Black Box Recorder was an English indie rock group formed 1998 in London by Sarah Nixey (vocals), John Moore (guitar, vocals) and Luke Haines (guitar, vocals). The band was an interesting amalgam of noir glam pop, with Haines coming from indie icons The Auteurs and Haines from indie noise rockers Jesus and Mary Chain. In their two year lifespan they output a swag of top notch singles, three excellent studio albums and two very good archival compilations. After their split in 2010 each of the members pursued solo careers. Outstanding albums include England Made Me, The Facts of Life, The Worst of Black Box Recorder and Life is Unfair.
