William Royce "Boz" Scaggs is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist born 1944 in Canton, Ohio. He is best known for his worldwide chart topping album Silk Degrees from 1976 and the hit singles "Lido Shuffle" and "Lowdown". Scaggs met Steve Miller in high school and the two played together in various blues bands. Scaggs also played on the first two Steve Miller Band albums Children of the Future and Sailor, before going solo in 1968. After a lacklustre debut album, his second release Boz Scaggs was excellent, capturing the blend of soulful R&B that he became known for throughout his career. Outstanding albums include Boz Scaggs, Moments, Slow Dancer and, his worldwide hit, Silk Degrees. The album Dig from 2001 was an excellent comeback album for Scaggs whos career went into a hiatus in the '90s. 2013's Memphis is also an excellent album.
