Carl Perkins "The Sun Singles Collection" (2015)
LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Not Now Music, UK, 2015, CATLP120, First Issue
The Sun Singles Collection released in 2015 includes 16 tracks Carl Perkins recorded at the legendary Sun Studios Nashville, between 1955-58. Perkins, who wrote the classic song "Blue Suede Shoes" which Elvis would make into a huge hit, was somewhat overshadowed by Presley but in those early days he was just as exciting and revolutionary as 'The King' himself. If Bill Haley was the Father of white Rock'n'roll and Elvis its King, then the father of Rockabilly was without doubt Carl Perkins. Included in this treasure trove of early rock hits are "Blue Suede Shoes", "Honey Don't", "Boppin the Blues", "That's Right" and "Glad all Over". Carl Perkins' sound would go on to be hugely influential on The Beatles, as well as just about every other rock musician who picked up a guitar. This music is just as enjoyable now as it was Sixty Five years ago.
