David Bromberg is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter born 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bromberg plays bluegrass, blues, folk, jazz, country & western, and rock and roll. He is known for his excellent finger-picking guitar style and quirky, humorous song lyrics. His debut self-titled album featured excellent blues & bluegrass singing and playing which won him many fans. His second and third albums, Demon in Disguise ('72) and Wanted Dead or Alive ('74) are superb releases and both feature The Grateful Dead members as backing musicians. Demon in Disguise featured a seven minute cover of Jerry Jeff Walker's song "Mr Bojangles", which received widespread radio play for Bromberg. His next four albums were credited to The David Bromberg Band which had a changing lineup and included guest players such as Bernie Leadon (guitar) from The Eagles, and Doug Sahm. Bromberg has released fifteen albums as soloist and band-leader. Standouts include David Bromberg, Demon in Disguise, Wanted Dead or Alive, How Late'll ya Play 'Til and David Bromberg Quartet Live NYC 1982. Bromberg currently lives in Wilmington Delaware, where he and his wife, artist Nancy Josephson, own a violin sales and repair shop.
