Sadenia "Eddi" Reader MBE is a Scottish singer-songwriter born 1959 in Glasgow. Reader was the singer for UK Folk-Pop band Fairground Attraction in the late '80s and she embarked on a successful solo career when that band folded after two albums. She has received three BRIT Awards for her music and in 2003 was awarded an MBE in recognition of her work to popularize the songs of Scotland's national poet Robert Burns. She is a passionate Scottish republican and was chosen to sing at the opening of the new Scottish Parliament in 2004. Standout albums include Angels & Electricity, Simple Soul, Sings the Songs of Robert Burns and Cavalier.
