Eskaton | Artist
Eskaton was a French Zeuhl/Progressive Rock band Formed 1974 in Paris by Xavier de Raymond (Fender piano), Gerard Konig (drums), Marc Rosenberg (bass guitar), and Alain Blesing (guitar) are joined by Paule Kleynnaert (vocals), Amara Tahir (vocals), Eris Guillaume (keyboards), and Andre Bernardi (guitar). Raymond, Konig, Rosenberg and Blesing were previously in a band called Eskaton Kommandkestra. Eskaton's style was in the "Zeuhl" tradition spearheaded by Christian Vander's Magma, except they moved towards accessibility by discarding the Kobaian lyrics, opting instead for their native French. 1979 saw the release of their first single "Musique Post Atomique" and the following year the release of their debut album Ardeur. in 1981 they released the superb 4 Visions album, which was actually recorded two years earlier. Their third and final album Fiction was released in 1983 and saw the addition of synthesizers into their arrangements and a move away from their more traditional Zeuhl sound. All three of their albums are excellent, but 4 Visions is their classic, and highly recommended.
