François de Roubaix was a French film score composer born 1939 in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Roubaix began studying jazz at age 15, forming a band and learning trombone. He employed folk elements as well as electronic instruments such as synthesisers and drum machines, making him an early exponent of French electronic music. Outstanding albums include movie and TV soundtracks Le samouraï, Commissaire Moulin et autres scènes de crimes and Daughters of Darkness (Les lèvres rouges).
