Henry Lawrence Garfield, aka Henry Rollins, is an American musician, actor, writer, television and radio host, and comedian born 1961 in Washington DC. Rollins came to fame as singer for hardcore punk band Black Flag, then as leader of the Rollins Band and solo artist. He now hosts a weekly radio show on KCRW, and is a regular columnist for Rolling Stone Australia and was a regular columnist for LA Weekly. It could be said he is the thinking person's hardcore punk. His solo works are mainly spoken or screamed words over hardcore noise-punk, often satirising contentious social and political issues. Outstanding albums include Hot Animal Machine, The Boxed Life, Get in the Van and Black Coffee Blues.
