Kaipa | Artist
Kaipa is a Swedish progressive rock band formed 1973 in Uppsala by Hans Lundin (vocals, keyboards), Tomas Eriksson (bass, vocals), Roine Stolt (vocals, guitar) and Ingemar Bergman (drums, vocals). Stolt, who later founded The Flower Kings, left the group in 1979, after their third album Solo. Their debut self-titled album was released in 1975, setting the tone for their pastoral symphonic prog sound reminiscent of bands such as Genesis, Camel and Yes, which they carried through onto 13 studio albums to-date. Standout releases include their first three albums: Kaipa, Inget nytt under solen, and Solo, plus the 2014 release Sattyg. The early albums have been compiled on the 2005 release titled The Decca Years 1975-1978. In 2014, original members Roine Stolt, Ingemar Bergman, and Tomas Eriksson re-grouped under the name Kaipa DaCapo to play the old music from the first three albums as well as brand new music. New members of the band are Mikael Stolt, brother of Roine, on vocals and guitar, and renowned Swedish musician Max Lorentz on keyboards.
