He is described as one of the giants of 20th-century film music and created soundtracks for many famous Hollywood and European movies, particularly those by Director David Lean. Outstanding albums include the classic soundtracks Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, Is Paris Burning?, The Man Who Would be King and A Passage to India.
