Parannoul | Artist
Parannoul is an anonymous South Korean shoegaze musician born 2001. He also works under the name Mydreamfever, and works in collaboration with fellow Sth Korean musician Asian Glow. Parannoul plays a style of music which is somewhere between dream pop and post-rock with mild psych influences. As Parannoul he has released four albums to-date, starting with 2020's Let's Walk on the Path of a Blue Cat, followed by To See the Next Part of the Dream (2021), Downfall of the Neon Youth (2021) and After the Magic (2023). Downfall of the Neon Youth is a collaboration with Asian Glow and Brazilian musician Sonhos Tomam Conta. The artist has also released two excellent EP's, White Ceiling / Black Dots Wandering Around (2022), and Paraglow (2022). Under the project Mydreamfever, which has a more neo-classical/ambient musical style, the artist has released one album, Rough and Beautiful Place (2022) and an EP titled Sprout Part I, II, III (2021). Standout releases include the two EP's White Ceiling/Black Dots Wandering Around (2022) and Paraglow (2022), plus the the studio albums To See the Next Part of the Dream (2021), Downfall of the Neon Youth (2021), and After The Magic (2023). Also highly recommended is the 2023 live album After the Night. In an interview with Sonemic, Parannoul self-effacingly described himself as "trash disguised as amateurism." Asked to describe his song writing method, the artist stated "when I suddenly think of a melody, I record it on the piano. I sometimes use the guitar. Or it could be the opposite. I sit in front of the piano, then play anything until the melody creates. I've been doing this since I was 16, and now there's almost 900 recordings filled on my computer.. I'm just a student writing music in my bedroom". The English translation of the artist's Korean title is "Blue Sunset". The artist's recent album release Sky Hundred (2024) is also highly recommended.
