Rodrigo y Gabriela are a Mexican classical guitar duo formed 2000 in Mexico City. Their music is influenced by a number of genres including nuevo flamenco, rock, and heavy metal. The duo's recordings consist largely of instrumental duets on the flamenco guitar. Their excellent second album 2006's Rodrigo y Gabriela was the first to generate widespread popularity and critical acclaim for their flamenco versions of Led Zeppelin's iconic "Stairway to Heaven" and Metallica's "Orion". A later album contains a version of Pink Floyd's song "Echoes". The duo has become very popular on the festival circuit and has released seven studio albums. Standouts include Rodrigo y Gabriela, 11:11, Mettavolution and Live in Japan.
