Sensations' Fix is an Italian progressive rock/electronic band formed 1974 in Florence by Franco Falsini (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Richard Ursillo (bass) and Keith Edwards (drums). Stephen Head (keyboards, drums) joined the following year in 1975. Band leader Falsini, was born in Italy but moved to Virginia in the US in 1969, where he set up a basement studio and experimented with a Moog and Four-track taping before returning to Italy to form the band. Sensations' Fix signed with Polydor Records and issued Eight studio albums between 1974-1989 which remained out of print for many years and largely unknown outside of Italy. Their first two albums Fragments of Light and Portable Madness, both from 1974, are excellent examples of early Italian prog rock featuring the signature electronically treated guitar playing of Falsini. Other standout albums include Finest Finger (1976) and the superb 2012 compilation Music is Painting in the Air. In 1975 Falsini released his solo album Naso Freddo (Cold Nose), which was a film soundtrack. As a side-project Falsini also formed the synthpop group The Antennas who released the excellent Vertical Love album in 1983. In 2002, DJ Shadow sampled Sensations' Fix on the tracks "Fixed Income" and "Mongrel...Meets His Maker" from The Private Press, and in 2008 Sonic Youth titled one of their art exhibitions "Sensational Fix".
