Sleaford Mods are an English synth-punk music duo formed 2007 in Nottingham by vocalist Jason Williamson and Simon Parframent on electronics. Since 2012 Andrew Fearn has supplied the backing music. They are known for their abrasive, minimalist musical style and embittered explorations of current-day Britain, culture, and working-class life, delivered in Williamson's East Midlands accent, backed by Fearn's synth-driven beats. Williamson's work, which has similarities with the likes of John Cooper Clark, Shaun Ryder, Ian Dury and Mark E. Smith, is deeply compelling, capturing the spirit of their time with blunt eloquence. The band describe their work as "electronic munt minimalist punk-hop rants for the working class." The band has featured in two documentary films: "Bunch of Kunst" (2017) and "Sleaford Mods: Invisible Britain" (2015). Of their twelve studio albums to-date, 2011's S.P.E.C.T.R.E. was the first to receive critical acclaim outside the UK. Other outstanding albums include Austerity Dogs (2013), Divide and Exit (2014), Key Markets (2015), and Live at SO36 (2016). The 2014 Singles compilation Chubbed Up is also highly recommended, containing as it does favourite tracks such as "Job Seeker", "Mr Jolly Fucker", "Tweet Tweet Tweet" and "Bambi". At one point in their existence, Williamson thought of calling the band 'That’s Shit, Try Harder' – not a name destined for the Top 40 – and that’s still their approach to the world; a funny, no-compromise manifesto.
