The Angels | Artist

The Angels was an Australian rock band which formed 1974 in Taperoo, South Australia by John Brewster (rhythm guitar, vocals), Rick Brewster (lead guitar, vocals) and Bernard "Doc" Neeson (lead vocals, guitar). Originally called The Keystone Angels, they performed at the Sunbury Pop Festival in 1975, supported AC/DC during a South Australian tour, and later that year were the backing band for Chuck Berry. The Keystone Angels issued a sole single "Keep on Dancin'" before changing their name and adding Chris Bailey on bass and Graham "Buzz" Bidstrup on drums. As The Angels their first single, "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again" was released in April 1976, produced by Vanda & Young, and performed on their TV debut on national pop music show, Countdown. The Angels went on to release 16 studio albums and become perennial favourites on the Australian pub-rock circuit with their brand of straight forward riff-driven boogie rock. Outstanding albums include Face to Face, No Exit, Dark Room and the live album Liveline.
