Voyager is a progressive metal band formed 1999 in Perth, Western Australia, by Daniel Estrin (vocals, keyboards), Mark De Vattimo (guitar), Mark Baker (keyboards), and Adam Lovkis (drums). Daniel Estrin is the only founding member in the present day lineup, along with Simone Dow (guitars), Scott Kay (guitars), Ashley Doodkorte (drums) and Alex Canion (bass, vocals). Estrin, Baker and Lovkis first came together while attending the University of Western Australia and after several personnel changes cut their debut album Element V in 2003. Voyager's popularity increased rapidly following the European album release and the band secured its first major support, opening for Steve Vai in Perth in July 2004. After the release of Element V, Melissa Fiocco joined the band on bass. Voyager performed at Melbourne's Corner Hotel in late 2005 as part of a Screaming Symphony radio benefit concert, playing for the first time out of their home state of Western Australia. In terms of the band's sound, they are very much on the melodic side of progressive metal, with an atmospheric "clean and shiny" sound, good vocals and excellent melodic guitar playing. The band has released seven full-length studio albums to-date, plus a live album and a clutch of singles. Standout albums include uniVerse (2007), I Am the reVolution (2009), The Meaning of I (2011) and V (2014). In February 2023 it was announced that Voyager will represent Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song "Promise".
