Sly & the Family Stone "There's a Riot Goin' On" (1971)

LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Epic, Europe, 2021, 19439904351, Red Vinyl, Limited Edition, Gatefold Sleeve

There's a Riot Goin' On is the Fifth studio album by Sly & the Family Stone, originally released in 1971 on Epic Records. This is one of the greatest funk albums of the period and a worthy successor to the band's previous classic release Stand! The band was black and white, men and women, playing a deliriously infectious brand of rock, soul, pop and funk. The heady success of the civil rights movement, which emerged against all odds in the Deep South in the mid-1950’s, had fueled African-American hopes that perhaps social justice would be possible in America after all. The band and their music were groundbreaking, celebrating the possibility of that bright future. There's A Riot Goin' On sits comfortably as one of the ten best albums of the 1970's, and has stood the test of time as an all time great.
