These Are The J.B.'s is the debut studio album by The J.B's, originally released 1971 on King records. The J.B.'s were originally formed as James Brown's all-star backing band however they performed and recorded under their own name when not performing with 'The Godfather'. The lineup include big names such as Bootsy Collins (bass), Catfish Collins (guitar), Bobby Byrd (vocals, organ), Maceo Parker (sax) and Bernie Worrell (keyboards). there are only Four extended workouts here, and all are pretty heavy keepers. Tight funk, yet loose enough for players to improvise and stretch upon. Bassist Bootsy Collins is the real star throughout. These cats were clearly out to make a statement. Just incredible.
