Charly García is an Argentine singer-songwriter, musician and record producer born 1951 in Buenos Aires. Before his extensive solo career, García was the founding member of four of Argentina's leading progressive folk-rock bands: Sui Generis ('69-75), PorSuiGieco ('75), La Máquina de Hacer Pájaros ('75-77), and Serú Girán ('78-82). García is widely considered by critics as one of the most influential rock artists in the Spanish-speaking world and together with Luis Alberto Spinetta, the founder of Argentinian rock music. Outstanding solo albums include Yendo de la cama al living, Clics Moderno, Piano Bar, Parte de la religión, Filosofía barata y zapatos de goma and the live album Hello! MTV Unplugged.
