Holly Golightly | Artist
Holly Golightly is a British singer-songwriter born 1966 in London. Her mother christened her after the character in Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's, played by Audrey Hepburn in the movie. Her musical style ranges from garage rock to R&B and she works as a soloist as well as with the band The Brokeoffs. Golightly's career started when she was dating Thee Headcoats drummer Bruce Brand, and bandleader Billy Childish added her to the lineup of his backup band Thee Headcoatees. In 1995 she started her solo career but continued to be an active member of Thee Headcoatees until they disbanded in 1999. Golightly formed a duo in the mid-2000s with her longtime bandmate Lawyer Dave. Calling themselves Holly Golightly and The Brokeoffs, they have released ten studio albums to-date including the excellent 2015 album Coulda Woulda Shoulda. As a soloist she has released 12 studio albums including collaborations with Billy Childish and Dan Melchior. Standout releases include Painted On, Serial Girlfriend, God Don't Like It and Do The Get Along. Time Out New York described Golightly as an "English garage rock doyenne." As a hobby, she is a collector of rare old songs, which she often covers.
