Los Straitjackets | Artist
Los Straitjackets is an American instrumental rock'n'roll band formed 1988 in Nashville, Tennessee, by Eddie Angel (guitar), Danny Amis (guitar) and Jimmy Lester (drums). Danny Amis was previously with the Raybeats. Soon after forming as The Straitjackets the band fell apart, then reformed in 1994 as Los Straitjackets with the addition of E. Scott Esbeck on bass. Early on the band played backup to rockabilly artist Robert Gordon and went on to develop their own cult following, building a reputation as a great live act wearing their trademark Mexican wrestling masks. They also worked with singers such as Nick Lowe, Eddy Clearwater and Big Sandy, and appeared on the Late Nite with Conan O'Brien TV show frequently in the '90s, performing Christmas songs. The band has released 14 studio albums and 3 excellent live albums, one together with Nick Lowe. Outstanding albums include their debut The Utterly Fantastic and Totally Unbelievable Sound of Los Straitjackets, ¡Viva!, The Velvet Touch of Los Straitjackets and Jet Set.
