Massive Attack | Artist
Massive Attack is an English band formed 1988 in Bristol, United Kingdom, by DJs Grant "Daddy G" Marshall and Andy "Mushroom" Vowles, and graffiti artist Robert "3D" Del Naja. The group's formation was assisted by Neneh Cherry who provided financial support and helped them get signed to Circa Records. Vowles left in 1998 after the group made their masterpiece Mezzanine. Guest vocalists Tricky and Horace Andy feature on the recordings. Along with Portishead and Tricky, Massive Attack started the "trip hop" wave, characterised by its slow tempo atmospheric dub sounds with lush studio production finish. The albums Blue Lines, Protection and Mezzanine are outstanding.
