Pernice Brothers | Artist
Pernice Brothers is an American indie rock band formed 1996 in Boston, MA, by Joe Pernice (vocals, guitar, bass), Bob Pernice (guitar), Peyton Pinkerton (guitar) and Thom Monahan (bass, producer). The current lineup sees the addition of drummer Patrick Berkery and James Walbourne on keyboards. Joe Pernice formed the band after the breakup of his previous band the Scud Mountain Boys, who released four albums including the excellent Massachusetts in 1996. The band plays hook-laden power-pop with baroque pop influences, characterized by lilting melodies and intelligent lyrics. Their first album, Overcome by Happiness, for Sub Pop in 1998, was well received and was followed by a string of three excellent albums: The World Won't End, Yours Mine and Ours and Discover a Lovlier You. They have released to-date seven consistently good studio albums plus the excellent 2005 live album Nobody's Watching / Nobody's Listening.
