Phideaux is an American progressive art-rock band formed 1996 in Los Angeles, California, by band leader Phideaux Xavier. Xavier is an American TV director, and composer of modern technological music. He has released one album under his own name, plus several works under the name Mogon, as well as being the driving force behind Phideaux, which has released 11 studio albums to-date. The performing group is a large ensemble comprising Xavier (vocals, piano, guitar, keyboards, bass), Rich Hutchins (drums), Ariel Farber (vocals, violin), Valerie Gracious (vocals, piano), Mathew Kennedy (bass), Gabriel Moffat (guitar, vocals, bass), Molly Ruttan-Moffat (drums, vocals), Linda Ruttan-Moldawsky (vocals), Mark Sherkus (guitar, keyboards, piano) and Johnny Unicorn (keyboards, saxophone, vocals). The band's style is symphonic progressive rock with echoes of classic prog bands such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Strawbs and Gordon Giltrap. The band's recorded output is of a consistently high standard and standout albums include Doomsday Afternoon, Number Seven, Snowtorch and Phideaux & Mogon Promotional Issue.
