The Gloaming | Artist

The Gloaming is a contemporary Irish/American folk music group formed in 2011 in Westmeath, Ireland, by fiddle player Martin Hayes, guitarist Dennis Cahill, vocalist Iarla Ó Lionáird, fiddle player Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, and pianist and producer Thomas Bartlett. The group reinterprets traditional Irish music taking influences from post-rock, jazz, chamber classical and minimalism. Lyricist Ó Lionáird draws from the ancient Irish canon, with some lyrics dating back centuries. They are signed to Peter Gabriel's Real World Records label. To-date they have released three studio albums and one live album: The Gloaming, 2, The Gloaming 3 and Live at the NCH, which are all superb.
