Cuby + Blizzards, aka Cuby & the Blizzards, was a Dutch blues-rock group founded 1964 in Grolloo, The Netherlands, by vocalist Harry Muskee and guitarist Eelco Gelling. The first lineup also included Willy Middel (bass), Hans Kinds (guitar) and Wim Kinds (drums). Their bluesy rock sound was compared to bands such as The Pretty Things and John Mayall. In 1967 they toured with Van Morrison, and collaborated with US blues musician Eddie Boyd on the album Praise the Blues, which had the hit song "Window of My Eyes". The following year they regularly played with the British blues pioneer Alexis Korner, who is featured on their album Live in Düsseldorf (1968). The line-up changed regularly, but founders Harry Muskee and Eelco Gelling remained at the core of the band until 1976. In 1976, Gelling left to join Golden Earring and Muskee formed the Harry Muskee Band. Cuby + Blizzards, together with Harry Muskee reformed in 1996 but came to an end when Harry Muskee died of cancer in September 2011. They released a total of 16 studio albums, standouts include their early releases Desolation, Groeten uit Grollo, Appleknockers Flophouse and Too Blind to See.
