Horace Swaby aka Augustus Pablo was a Jamaican reggae and dub record producer, melodica player and keyboardist born 1954 in St Andrew Parish, Jamaica. Pablo popularised the use of the melodica in dub music and produced some of the greatest dub albums of his time. He worked with other great producers including King Tubby and Lee Scratch Perry, plus he produced works for other artists such as Hugh Mundell, Jacob Miller and Horace Andy. Pablo formed the labels Hot Stuff, Message and Rockers, which output a steady stream of hits in the late 1970s. He released many excellent albums, singles and instrumental dub versions of other artists. The compilation album King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown is a masterpiece and regarded as one of the most important examples of dub. Other outstanding albums include This is Augustus Pablo, East of the River Nile and Rockers meets King Tubbys in a Fire House. He also produced and provided backing for sixteen year old Hugh Mundell's masterpiece Africa Must be Free by 1983.
