Cast is a Mexican prog-rock band formed 1978 in Mexicali, Baja California, by Luis Alfonso Vidales (keyboards), Dino Carlo Brassea (lead vocals), Francisco Hernandez Reyes (guitar), Rodolfo Gonzalez Quiroz (bass, banjo) and José Antonio Bringas (drums, percussion). Vidales continues in the present day lineup, along with Carlos Humarán (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, vocals), Kiko King (drums, percussion), Flavio Miranda (bass) and José "Pepe" Torres (saxophone, flute, clarinet). The band's sound is symphonic progressive rock centred on keyboards, guitars and vocals, very similar in style to early Genesis. The band has released 20 studio albums. Earlier works such as 1997's Angels and Demons were good, but not great, however their sound really gelled in the early 2000's with the release of a string of consistently excellent albums through to the present day. Standout albums include Com.Unión, Originallis, Arsis, Vida, and Power and Outcome. Cast host an annual progressive rock festival called Baja Prog in their home city Mexicali, which features bands from around the world.
