Chicago "Live at the Isle of Wight Festival" (2018)
LP (NEW) - Vinyl, Rhino Records, US, 2018, R1 572869, 603497856916, 2xLP, Remastered, First Issue, Gatefold Sleeve
The 2-LP set features Chicago's live performance from Aug. 28, 1970 at the Isle of Wight, where they co-headlined with Jimi Hendrix and the Doors. It features extended free-form versions of their early landmark tracks, “I’m A Man,” “25 or 6 to 4,” “Introduction,” South California Purples” and the “Ballet For A Girl In Buchannon.” The performance showcased the band at their most ambitious, unafraid of fusing genres and expressing their unbridled energy on a grand scale. This memorable set was captured for posterity, but quality issues meant that the recording remained in the vaults for almost 50 years. Finally released by Rhino Records, following painstaking restoration and a new original mix by the band’s own mix engineer Tim Jessup working out of the band’s own studio in Sedona, Arizona.
