Damon Albarn OBE is an English musician born 1968 in Whitechapel, London. He is best known as the lead singer of the British rock band Blur. Albarn is also the co-founder, lead vocalist, instrumentalist, and principal songwriter of the virtual band Gorillaz and a member of the band The Good The Bad & The Queen. Albarn fronted Blur from 1989, to the present day. The Gorillaz project, with Jamie Hewlett, and The Good The Bad & The Queen, with Paul Simonon, Simon Tong and Tony Allen, are both ongoing projects for Albarn. As well as his solo albums, he has written and performed works for screen and stage including the soundtrack Ravenous, with Michael Nyman, and the striking Dr Dee mini opera which was performed by English National Opera. Outstanding albums include Ravenous, Mali Music, Dr Dee, Everyday Robots and Live at the De De De Der.
