Eiffel is a French alternative rock group founded 1998 in Bordeaux, France by mainstay Romain Humeau (vocals, guitar), Damien Lefèvre (bass), Estelle Humeau (guitar, keyboards, bass, flute, melodica) and Nicolas Courret (drums). The band undertook low-key touring around France until their break came when they were recruited to provide backing for high profile French Author, film maker and poet Michel Houellebecq for his performances and recordings, including his album Présence humaine. Eiffel's first album, Abricotine, was released in Jan 2001. The acid sound and surrealist lyrics, already present on their EPs, were the hallmarks of this album, which included, poems by Boris Vian set to music. The band has gone on to release six consistently good studio albums and one first rate live album. Standout albums include Abricotine (2001), Le 1/4 d'heure des ahuris (2002), Tandoori (2007), Les yeux fermés (2004) and À tout moment (2009). In addition to his work with the band, Romain Humeau has arranged the strings for the Noir Désir album Des visages, des figures.
